We have arranged a cricket game against Valley End CC on Wednesday 12th August. 6pm Start for what should be a highly entertaining 20 over game.

There will obviously be a beer available and hopefully food.

Further details will be posted when known.

Be good to see as many CTFC people at the game as possible.

Listen, Crass Bonk, even if your cricket box is diamond studded, Earl says, they still wont pick you for the Oval game.

Excellent win tonight as the CTFC XI chased down 130 for the loss of 6 wickets and with 9 balls to spare.
Fielding first the opening bowling of Gray and Ashford kept a tight rein on things with Gray taking the 1st wicket of evening. Sills and Webb then came on and the run rate picked up although Sills picked up a wicket. Valley End began to get on top with the bowling being dispatched into the trees at regular intervals. The turning point of the innings came with the introduction of Barry bowling deceptively quick his 2nd over saw 2 wickets fall and the home sides innings falter. His 1st a slower ball skied high for the safe hands of Gray to catch, next ball his pace undone the batsman and sent his stumps flying. His hat trick ball was ferocious and was only just dealt with. The final few overs saw VECC try to push on but tight bowling from Gray and finally the slow slow slow left arm of Barnard restricted the home side to 130 off 16 overs.
After a quick break to allow Gray a few pints and the influential Webb time to get a team talk in the CTFC boys began their chase. Opener Redwood struck the 1st ball for a single, fellow opener Barnard decided not to hang around and missed the straight ball and walked back for a Golden Duck. Incoming Messenger and the classy Redwood both reached 30 before retiring bringing wicket keeper Cornell and all rounder Barry to the crease. With Cornell anchoring the chase and Barry hitting the ball to all parts the CTFC side homed in on the target. The loss of both was too late for Valley End and all that was left was the simple task of knocking off the remaining few runs which was done with ease by Gray and the eventually arriving Swift. 134-6 with 9 balls to spare and the game was won, with all the CTFC boys performing well and also breathing a huge sigh of relief that the quick looking fella warming up took pity on us and bowled spin.

Great evening had by all the players and hopefully those watching, finished with a nice beer and burger.
