A good performance but ulitmately a frustrating result again, conceding yet again in the 90th minute to lose by the odd goal - that's 3 times now The intention was to start quickly and we did that well and scored after 11 mins when Sam Slater's low shot was only half saved by the keeper and Kyle Wilkie was there to slot the ball home. We played well and kept our shape for the rest of the half and were rewarded with another goal just on half time when our free kick evaded the flapping keeper and Karl Winters passed the ball back across the 6 yard box for Nick Lyskov to poke the ball home. 2-0 at half time and we deserved it on run of play. The hard part was to try to maintain the same momentum in the 2nd half as we knew Farnborough had to be better after the break, and they were, playing with more pace and precision than in the first half and gradually they began to unravel our defence, so it was not a total surprise on 64 mins when a quick interchange of passes on the edge of the penalty area freed their forward to strike home and make it 2-1. A setback that gave them belief and on 74 mins they were awarded a soft free kick by the "erratic" referee 25 yards out from goal. The kick was truly inch perfect and any keeper would have been lucky to stop it - 2-2. 15 mins to go and with tiredness setting in against a side that trains all the time it was an uphill battle, but the players didn't give up and kept trying to take the game to them, however in the last minute of normal time they scored when Jordan Westwood in goal could only half stop a low shot and they rammed home the winner. Very frustrating indeed, but it was a positive, lively, performance from the team against a quality side which included a couple of 1st team players. No shame in losing to them and they know they were in a game. If the free kick had not gone in??? who knows ...
