HIGHWORTH surrendered an early lead to exit the FA Vase at the first qualifying round stage at the hands of Camberley.
Striker Brad Clark put the home side ahead early on but three goals in 20 second-half minutes were enough to give the Combined Counties Premier visitors a 3-1 victory.
Despite being without the likes of Matty Bennett, Tony Joyce, Kev Tate and Scott Lane, the Worthians’ hopes of progression and a £600 cash windfall looked promising after 12 minutes, when they forged ahead.
Smooth build-up play in midfield resulted in Ryan King setting Clark free and the front man beat the Camberley stopper with ease.
That was how it stayed until the interval but whatever was said in the Krooners camp at the break worked wonders.
Doug Ford pulled the visitors level just four minutes after the restart and then Brad Smith made it 2-1 nine minutes later.
Smith was given the chance to add a second from the spot following a foul in the box and he made no mistake to wrap up the win.
Assistant Kev Moloney, in charge in the absence of holidaying boss John Fisher, said his side only had themselves to blame for the defeat.
Moloney felt that all three goals were avoidable and that the second-half display was not as positive as it should have been.
“The first half was decent and we were 1-0 up at half-time having scored a good goal,” he said.
“We were looking to push on in the second half but we conceded some poor goals and didn’t play that well.
“Two of the goals were crosses that weren’t dealt with and it was bad from us to even let them in the box for the penalty.
“They were poor goals to give away and you can’t afford to do that.
“We couldn’t get back in it and that was a little bit disappointing.
“The lads weren’t happy with the result as we have been playing well lately.
“When you’re 1-0 up all you need is a second goal to consolidate and we’re disappointed to go out.”

Ok the above was sort of right but the goals were not poor or easy, they were very well taken goals and our team just out played Highworth in the second half.
