Next up for the reserves is yet another home game (going to be away a lot when the weather gets worse later in the season )against Chessington & Hook, as usual 3.00pm ko. We've been playing well, let's hope we can take the chances tomorrow and avoid another draw

Not sure what to say about this, but even when 2 down at half time, still thought we would go on to win, but with them scoring almost straight from the kick off put paid to that. Lost I think 8 - 3, fairly difficult to keep score after a nasty trip to the dentist just before kick off and a medicinal Scotch to help me through the game.

A shocker of a result. A poor game from the start, with a ref who liked the sound of his whistle, so that there was no flow to the game. We were in control of the game, albeit not playing well or taking chances, for the first 30 minutes, but then after 34 mins we failed to deal with a straight ball through the middle and found ourselves 1-0 down. We started to react to this setback but then got beaten again the same way just before the break, so 2-0 at halftime against the overall run of play and against what had been the weakest side we have played this season. It looked to be possible to turn this around if we simply started to take care of the ball better in the 2nd half and take our chances. We then went on to make our own problems - a missed tackle near the half way line and poor marking from the kick off saw us 3-0 down within a minute of the restart. Still coming to terms with how badly the 2nd half had started and we were 4-0 down when they scored a looping free header to make it 4-0 after 49 mins. Pretty much game over, so a reshuffle to 3 at the back and see what we could do ... what we did do was score 3 decent goals, with the first coming on 60 mins, when Mike Hawthorne tapped in after good work by Tom Booth, but by then this only brought the score back to 5-1. Freddie Kelsey scored a well worked freekick (with Alec Wade) after 85 mins to make it 7-1 and we 2 mins later more good work by Tom and Paul Dadson gave Danny Fisher a tap in. But we still managed to let one in after that to make the final score 8-3 ... no point in dwelling on all their goals, most of which were avoidable ... in games where things don't go the way you expect or deserve character and spirit are what you look for to give you a chance, we had some, but clearly the result shows we didn't have enough. No game next Saturday, so we have 2 weeks to sort ourselves out. Onwards.
