A well fought, evenly matched game. No too many clear chances for either team, but plenty of good endeavour and commitment throughout the 120 minutes it took to decide it on the night. The visitors were a tall team and this was their main threat throughout, loading the box for any corners or free kicks in threatening areas, but at half time this hadn't shown any dividends and we had played some decent football, although the quality in the final 3rd was letting us down. Both teams got the ball in the net but both were ruled offside. So, 0-0 at halftime. Farleigh started the second half better than us and scored after 54 mins when their smallest player (the centre forward) scored after a quick break down the left. This was the wake up call we needed and 11 mins later the score was level when Dollard scored at the near post from Karl Winter's free kick. As the game went on it looked more and more likely that extra time would be needed to separate the teams and although both teams worked hard neither keeper was unduly troubled. Extra time and within 10 mins we were reduced to 10 men when Josh Fines had to go off injured. Maybe this distracted FR but within 2 mins a good move involving Dollard, Freddie Kelsey and finally Zac Hawker saw us score the winner with Zac deservedly scoring from 12 yards after a good performance in the centre of the park. It was nail-biting stuff near the end, but we managed to close out the game and take the win. An entertaining game in really cold conditions, played in a good spirit, that could have gone either way. Everyone put in a shift and for once we got the reward for the efforts. Well done.
