Next candidate for postponement is an away game at Ashford Town Monday evening 10th February, 7.45 ko ... let's hope this negative attitude will have the reverse effect and we will actually play

At last, we played a game - but only after a late kick off to allow a pitch inspection. We started brightly enough and after 12 minutes a well flighted Tom Booth corner was headed home by Zac Hawker to put us 1-0 up. The game was fairly even at this stage, but after 22 minutes Dan Spurr aggravated his groin injury that he had just recovered from and had to come off, so we used our only sub, Paul Dadson, which would have been fine, but after 40 minutes Tom Booth challenged for the ball with their keeper and came off worst with a leg injury that made him virtually a passenger for the rest of the game (although he kept going and trying to the end), still 1-0 up at half time and we had probably had more of the ball. Ashford started the second half with more pace about their play and were putting together better football and then Jay Warden was carried off after 59 mins with an ankle injury that looks likely to keep him out for a while, so down to 10 men and one of those limping ... so familiar territory for the team who have played with less than a full squad on more than one occasion this season - it was dig in and try and keep what we had. We couldn't quite do that as we conceded a goal after 64 minutes from a low shot across Dean into the far corner of the net. But we managed to survive the rest of the game, mostly in our own half, to come away with a point which was all we could really expect. Not how we would have wanted the first game in a while to go and against a more experienced side it probably wouldn't have been enough, but it got rid of the cobwebs and we move on.
