After a successful week with 2 wins we were looking for another good performance in this game, and we got it. Although we struggled to get the players there on time, we did at least have enough and they came out of the traps much quicker than Knaphill. After 3 minutes, good work by Perry Coles set up Kyle Wilkie to beat the keeper and make it 1-0. On 11 minute Kyle got his second with a well struck volley from an Adam Murphy throw that Perry flicked on. Then 1 minute later it was 3-0 when Kyle fed the ball through for Dollard to outstrip the fullback and drive the ball across the penalty area for Perry to get in on the scoring with a low strike past the keeper. From this point onwards Knaphill upped their work rate and gradually came into the game and by the end of the half they had had more of the possession, however, Kris Hatton in goal had not had a proper save to make ...
We expected Knaphill to come out stronger in the 2nd half and we adjusted our formation accordingly waiting for the onslaught, but it never actually came and after 63 mins Kyle got his hatrick when Perry again provided the killer pass, this time a long cross field arrow of a pass that Kyle latched onto to beat their back line and slot home. After that it was huff and puff from the home side, but still no actual direct shots on target.
So, a good solid win, defence looked solid and plenty of good performances all round. Great to see the players enjoying themselves and playing with confidence again. Three in a row - dizzy heights!
