Well that was an interesting game. Playing up the hill we weathered an early storm until a clever free kick from Joe put us 1 up. Josh K made it 2 from a corner before Northwood pulled a goal back when a ball droped kindly to their striker from a corner. 2-1 at half time. Northwood equalised when a mis hit corner feel perfectly for a Northwood player who frankly will never hit a ball like that again in his life. From that point the referee became centre of attention. He gave us a free kick as the ball was played through to our player on goal and onside. Advantage anyone ? then it became a case of who shouted loudest would get the decisions. All this was surpassed in the final few minutes. One of our players was fouled and went down injured. The Northwood 9 went to make sure he was ok and about 45 seconds later the referee sent the 9 off. Our injured player even thanked the 9 after the game for checking he was ok. No-one knows why the referee sent him off including our supporters who were close by the incident. Was this the worst ? Not quite. In the final minute Alex chased a ball in and clashed with the Northwood keeper who came out with the ball in his hands. the keeper promptly gave the ref a mouthful. The ref stopped the game and cautioned the keeper. To restart play he was orignally going to allow the keeper to play the ball from his hands then changed his mind and awarded a drop ball. So for all his strange decisions that can be interpreted as opinion he proved he doesnt even know the laws.
A frustrating evening where again I felt we deserved the win however at the moment things just do not fall for us.
