SPELTHORNE SPORTS (0) 1 CAMBERLEY TOWN (2) 3 Due to a previously arranged engagement, I missed the opening day 5-0 defeat at home to Horley. Last night saw Camberley have the opportunity to kick start the season at Spelthorne Sports. Any fears of another defeat were quickly forgotten as Camberley took control of the game in the opening 20 minutes. The opening goal came on 15 minutes when a corner was headed away to the edge of the penalty area and Rob Lazarczuk hit a sweet volley low into the back of the net. Two minutes later, Paul Coventry evaded the offside trap and provided the pass for Perry Coles to head home from close range to make it 2-0. Camberley had numerous chances to extend the lead but had to make do with a 2-0 half time lead. Spelthorne came out for the second half in attacking mood and reduced the arrears in the 46th minute following a sliced clearance. The two goal advantage was quickly restored one minute later when Matt Bunyan converted a low cross from the right, from close range. The second half was more even than the first and things seemed to be going Spelthornes way when Rob Lazaczuk was shown a straight red card for retaliation with 10 minutes to go. Camberley, though, held on comfortably to register their first 3 points of the season.
